Baucus Balking

Jake Tapper and crew interviewed Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chair of the Senate Finance Committee, for the ABC News Shuffle Podcast.
Baucus said he was “concerned” about President Obama’s proposal to help pay for health care reform by reducing the amount in itemized deductions (mortgage interest, charitable donations, etc.) that those earning more than $250,000 a year can claim on their taxes.
“It’s an issue,” Baucus said, “but there are lots of different ways to solve this one, there’s always a solution…you just have to look hard enough and carefully enough and creatively enough to find a solution and if not that tax provision, there may be some other.”
To borrow from Shawn Hannity‘s “liberal translation treatment”, that’s what Baucus said, but here’s what he meant:
Cut itemized deductions on the rich, my ass. Look you little community organizing idiot…. NOW you’re in MY pockets.
What’s that? I think I hear Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee Charlie Rangel, former HHS Secretary nominee Tom Daschle, former OMB nominee Nancy Killefer, Secretary of labor Hilda Solis and Trade Representative designate Ron Kirk laughing: Baucus pays taxes! Hee hee hee… stop it…haw haw…before you make me…snort snort… pee my pants…
