Southern Border Fighting

Posted by ginnypub on March 13, 2009

In the first 3 months of 2009, 1000 people have been murdered just across the southern border of the U.S.A. in Mexico. In 2008, almost 6000 people were murdered. Drug and human smugglers are armed to the hilt with everything from RGPs to machetes. Their fire power is so great, that last November, Mexican police officers who were pinned down in a raging gun battle, issued an urgent plea for help to the Arizona State Police. Law enforcement and military personnel, as well as innocent men, women and children are being  kidnapped, tortured, beheaded, shot and slaughtered in this ongoing bloodbath.

This war has spilled over into the U.S.A.  Execution style murders, violent home invasions, and a spiraling kidnap rate in Phoenix – where police reported an average of one abduction a day last year linked to Mexican crime – are not the only examples along the border. Phoenix, AZ is now the kidnap capital of the world.

Arizona residents are fighting. Lawmakers in Arizona heard testimony on border violence last week from police and prosecutors, who are seeking more robust measures to seize smugglers’ assets, as well as cracking down harder on gunrunning to Mexico. “Sheriff Joe” Arpaio in Maricopa County has arrested 16,000 illegal aliens over the past 18 months. Of those, 70% are charged with felony crimes, including forgery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, DUI, narcotics, robbery, murder and theft. Not surprisingly, crime has been reduced in the valley.

President Barry Soetoro is taking action, also.

“We’re going to examine whether and if National Guard deployments would make sense and under what circumstances they would make sense,” Obama said during an interview with journalists for regional papers, including a McClatchy reporter.

“I don’t have a particular tipping point in mind,” he said. “I think it’s unacceptable if you’ve got drug gangs crossing our borders and killing U.S. citizens.”

Obama was cautious, however. “We’ve got a very big border with Mexico,” he said. “I’m not interested in militarizing the border.”

Our expectation is to have a comprehensive policy in place in the next few months.”

Vice President Joe Biden has appointed Maricopa County supervisor Donald T. Stapley, Jr. to a task force to oversee implementation of the “Economic Recovery Act”. Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas and Sheriff Joe sent him a thank you letter:

Democrat congressional leaders have been even more aggressive in this fight. Ethically-challenged John Conyers, open-border advocates Jerrold Nadler and Zoe Lofgrens and social-justice engineer Robert Scott have teamed up with the militant arm of the democrat party, ACORN, have demanded that the U.S. Department of Justice launch a full-scale investigation into —-SHERIFF JOE ARPAIO.

In a letter dated March 10, 2009, Loretta Smith, acting assistant attorney general at the DOJ, detailed what her department would be investigating:

“This is to inform you that the United States Department of Justice is commencing an investigation of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (”MCSO”) pursuant to the pattern or practice provisions of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994,42 U.S.C. §14141 (“Section 14141″) and the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968,42 U.S.C. § 3789d (“Safe Streets Act”), and pursuant to the prohibitions against national origin discrimination in Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964,42 U.S.C. §§ 2000d to 2000d-7 (“Title Yr’) and the Safe Streets Act, 42 U.S.C. § 3789d(c).”

“The investigation will focus on alleged patterns or practices of discriminatory police practices and unconstitutional searches and seizures conducted by the MCSO, and on allegations of national origin discrimination, including failure to provide meaningful access to MCSO services for limited English proficient (LEP) individuals.”
