Virginia Republican

Big Bang

Posted by ginnypub on March 18, 2009

When I first read the Politico story referring to Barry Soetoro’s “Big Bang”, I automatically assumed it was a reference to what he is doing to people who work, people who pay taxes, people who pay their mortgages, people who serve in the military,  people who contribute to charities and people who have seen their retirement depleted.

I was right:

At the White House Tuesday morning, Obama began the day with a sharp push-back against the idea that his uncommonly ambitious agenda on health care, energy and other initiatives is too much, too soon.

Not so fast there, Barry-

Barack Obama’s Big Bang Theory of Governance is starting to face its first big test among the new president’s fellow Democrats.

Another timing is everything moment:

March 18 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama may try to push through Congress a health-care overhaul, energy proposals and tax increases by using a partisan tactic that would thwart Republican efforts to block the measures.

The administration and congressional Democrats are debating whether to use a parliamentary procedure called reconciliation to advance some of the biggest items on the president’s agenda. The move would allow Democrats to approve plans to raise taxes by $1 trillion, create a cap-and-trade system to rein in greenhouse-gas emissions, and overhaul health care without a single Republican vote.

Maybe not. These measures enjoy bipartisan opposition.
