I guess it all depends on what the meaning of “is”, is.
As President Barack Obama works to sell the American people on a sweeping agenda of domestic spending and policy changes, he’s relying on three men who have gone through neither Senate confirmation nor cable news spin cycles.
Data from pollsters Joel Benenson and Paul Harstad has become increasingly important to shaping the White House’s message as the crucial battle over the president’s budget intensifies.
Elements of Obama’s approach bear the hallmarks of message testing, like the introduction of the words “recovery” and “reinvestment” to rebrand the “stimulus” package, and aides said the polling has focused almost entirely on selling policy, not on measuring the president’s personal appeal.
A source familiar with the data said a central insight of more recent polling had been that Americans see no distinction between the budget and the popular spending measures that preceded it, and that the key to selling the budget has been to portray it as part of the “recovery” measures.
Uh oh! It looks like Americans are understanding the “distinction” between “I$” and “is“.

For 8 years, if Pres. Bush sneezed there was a chorus of, “What kind of message are we sending to the world?” “This administration has damaged the image of the U.S. around the world!”
Candidate for president Barry Soetoro promised to “reboot America’s image” among the world’s Muslims and that one of his top priorities would be to work to repair America’s reputation worldwide. In that vain, he granted his first interviewas leader of the free world to al-Arabiya where he apologized profusely for the U.S. being responsible for Islamic serial mass murderers incinerating a few thousand Infidels on U.S. soil.
It was especially poignant when a sitting president of the United States of America met Saudi Arabia’s King and bowed in deference to his “majesty“.
After the U.S. elected its first black president, the first black U.S. Attorney General and former Fannie Mae lobbyist, Eric Holder, said publicly, “Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial, we have always been and we — I believe continue to be in too many ways essentially a nation of cowards.”
Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva heard you Mr. Holder. Speaking in Brasília at a joint press conference with Gordon Brown, the UK prime minister, Mr Lula da Silva told reporters: “This crisis was caused by the irrational behaviour of white people with blue eyes, who before the crisis appeared to know everything and now demonstrate that they know nothing.” This, of course, was music to Race Separatist in Chief, Barry Obama, who couldn’t wait to drool all over him. During a lunch at the Group of 20 summit in London, Obama shook hands with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and said: “This is my man, right here. I love this guy.” I can hardly wait for Barry’s next book.
Then, there’s our neighbor to the south, Mexico, where a bloody drug war is happening and spilling across the border into the U.S., which wouldn’t have started in the first place if the drug lords didn’t receive 90% of their firearms from the U.S. It isn’t relevant that this figure is a bold-faced LIE made up of whole cloth from the Soetoro administration. What is relevant is that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is merely a “suggestion” and should be overturned.
The icing on the cake is probably yet to come, but Barry’s speech to a group of students from France and Germany comes close. “In America, there is a failure to appreciate Europe’s leading role in the world. “Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.”
Now, that’s a statement from someone who is a world’s authority on arrogance, dismissiveness and derision.
So what is the message Pres. Barry Soetoro is sending to the world?
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS A LOUSY COUNTRY, FULL OF LOUSY PEOPLE.

From On High had an excellent take on this story-kind of a Clintonesque what “is” is.
WASHINGTON (AP) – One of President Barack Obama’s campaign pledges on taxes went up in puffs of smoke Wednesday.
The largest increase in tobacco taxes took effect despite Obama’s promise not to raise taxes of any kind on families earning under $250,000 or individuals under $200,000.
“I can make a firm pledge,” he said in Dover, N.H., on Sept. 12. “Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.”
He repeatedly vowed “you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime.”
Now in office, Obama, who stopped smoking but has admitted he slips now and then, signed a law raising the tobacco tax nearly 62 cents on a pack of cigarettes, to $1.01. Other tobacco products saw similarly steep increases.
The extra money will be used to finance a major expansion of health insurance for children.
His detailed campaign plan stated that his proposed improvement in health insurance and health technology “is more than covered” by raising taxes on the wealthy alone. It was not based on raising the tobacco tax.
Not one dime more than this:
Another source of revenue comes from auctioning rights to carbon emissions, raising $646 billion over 10 years. This is a regressive tax, meaning that it falls hardest on those at the lower end of the income scale. Despite Obama’s promise that those earning under $250,000 won’t pay another dime in taxes, carbon-intensive companies are going to pass along the extra tax to consumers.
If Barry and the rest of the stagflation supporters want to tax something to raise cash for children’s health care, how about a big, fat increase on PORN and LABOR INDUCED PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION?!
No way! Not in this lifetime! Let’s not get crazy, here. Children don’t need taxpayer-funded health care that bad! This is still America, after all!

Once upon a time there was a child who grew up in a loving family, but felt that he, somehow, didn’t fit in.
When he had grown up, he moved to the Big City. There he met a man who made him rich and famous.
He bought some Greek columns with some of his riches.
Along the way, he took up with some shady characters
And found his “Special Purpose”
But he soon found out that he was in over his head and lost all his riches
Because he wasn’t smart enough to learn this:

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett put almost all his eggs in one basket for the past 2 years.
How has your investment paid off, Warren?
Oh, I see.
The man considered by many to be the greatest investor of all time just had his worst year ever.
Mr. Buffett, in his annual letter, read closely by shareholders and nonshareholders alike, reported Berkshire in 2008 lost 9.6% in book value per share, a common metric Berkshire uses to track performance. That marks the biggest decline since Mr. Buffett took over in 1965, when it was a family-run East Coast textile maker.
Mr. Buffett conceded he “did some dumb things.”
What about the future, Warren?
Unemployment rate in U.S. will go well above its current levels before the downturn ends.
Inflation has the “potential” to be worse than the 1970s.
How did this happen, Warren?
“In my view, it’s an economic war, and–I don’t think anybody on December 7th would have said a `war is a terrible thing to waste, and therefore we’re going to try and ram through a whole bunch of things and–but we expect to–expect the other party to unite behind us on the–on the big problem.’ It’s just a mistake, I think, when you’ve got one overriding objective, to try and muddle it up with a bunch of other things.”
This sounds dire, Warren. What are you doing to overcome “the dumb things” you did in 2008?
Oh, I see.

“The American people have entrusted us with their hopes and aspirations for themselves, for their families, and for their future. We will honor that trust.”
– Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), November 8, 2006
Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY), Chairman, Ways and Means Committee, Vice Chairman for the Joint Committee on Taxation, U.S. House of Representatives, under the direction of Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.
He puts the ASS in clASS:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) denied a report on Tuesday that she had called on Ways and Means Chairman Charles B. Rangel (D-N.Y.) to step aside.
“I see no reason why Mr. Rangel should step down,” Pelosi told reporters Tuesday. “I have supported his call for the ethics committee to look into it.”
The Ways and Means chairman has asked the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct to look into his use of four rent-stabilized apartments in a Harlem high-rise, his use of congressional stationery to solicit money for an educational center in New York that bears his name and, most recently, his failure to pay taxes or report rental income on a vacation home in the Dominican Republic. September 16, 2008
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told NBC’s Meredith Vieira in an interview taped Monday that Rep. Charles Rangel should not step down as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee.
Pelosi said she didn’t see “any reason” that Rangel should step down.
Tuesday, the House ethics committee said it’s now expanding its investigation of Rangel.
Pelosi said it’s up to the ethics committee to decide if Rangel should surrender his chairmanship.
“Until they make their decision, which I hope will be soon– I think that he should stay as chair of the committee,” Pelosi said.
Pelosi added, “Mr. Rangel, he loves our country. He loves this Congress. He wants to do nothing but bring credit to it. And he’ll be the first one to know what his course of action should be.”
The expanded ethics committee will investigate Rangel’s role in preserving a tax loophole that benefited a company whose executive had pledged $1 million to a center named after Rangel. December 10, 2008
House Resolution 143 to remove Rep. Rangel from his chairmanship. TABLED.

Jake Tapper and crew interviewed Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chair of the Senate Finance Committee, for the ABC News Shuffle Podcast.
Baucus said he was “concerned” about President Obama’s proposal to help pay for health care reform by reducing the amount in itemized deductions (mortgage interest, charitable donations, etc.) that those earning more than $250,000 a year can claim on their taxes.
“It’s an issue,” Baucus said, “but there are lots of different ways to solve this one, there’s always a solution…you just have to look hard enough and carefully enough and creatively enough to find a solution and if not that tax provision, there may be some other.”
To borrow from Shawn Hannity‘s “liberal translation treatment”, that’s what Baucus said, but here’s what he meant:
Cut itemized deductions on the rich, my ass. Look you little community organizing idiot…. NOW you’re in MY pockets.
What’s that? I think I hear Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee Charlie Rangel, former HHS Secretary nominee Tom Daschle, former OMB nominee Nancy Killefer, Secretary of labor Hilda Solis and Trade Representative designate Ron Kirk laughing: Baucus pays taxes! Hee hee hee… stop it…haw haw…before you make me…snort snort… pee my pants…

Megalomaniac-in-Chief, Barry Soetoro, delivered “his” plan for Iraq withdrawal to the Warrior Heroes stationed at Camp LeJeune, NC last week. In actuality, “Barry’s Plan” has already been crafted. It’s called SOFA. The Iraqi and Bush administrations crafted it and Barry didn’t have a damned thing to do with it.
“As a candidate for president, I made clear my support for a timeline of 16 months to carry out this drawdown, while pledging to consult closely with our military commanders upon taking office to ensure that we preserve the gains we’ve made and protect our troops,” Obama said. “Those consultations are now complete, and I have chosen a timeline that will remove our combat brigades over the next 18 months. “Let me say this as plainly as I can: By Aug. 31, 2010, our combat mission in Iraq will end.”
It looks like some in the audience remembered that the only reason he traveled to Iraq was to demand Iraqi leaders delay a SOFA agreement until after Pres. Bush was out of office.
Maybe some in the audience are questioning the judgement of a Commander in Chief candidate who voted against funding troops on the battlefield because the U.S. did not surrender first.
Maybe some are remembering that Barry Soetoro’s timeline for Iraq withdrawal changed with each public opinion poll.
Maybe some are remembering that Barry’s nominee for U.S. Solicitor General fights to keep the ROTC off college campuses, but is happy to give a scholarship to anti-American Pakistani student Samad Khurram.
All of them were trying to swallow the bile that wanted to projectile-vomit out of their collective mouths onto the face of the lying rat bastard standing before them who had the unmitigated audacity to claim the Petraeus/Crocker/Bush Strategy was HIS idea.
FYI, Barry…It’s called the Anaconda Strategy.
AND YOU DIDN’T HAVE A DAMNED THING TO DO WITH IT.
